Hiking trail
The Sentiero del Barbaresco is a gentle walk through one of the world's most iconic wine landscapes, winding between neat rows of Nebbiolo vines that shift in colour with the seasons across the soft hills of the Langhe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The loop trail begins in the medieval village of Barbaresco and meanders at an unhurried pace past legendary estates such as Gaja and Produttori del Barbaresco, as well as smaller artisan producers who are the quiet guardians of centuries-old winemaking traditions. A sommelier guide leads tastings along the way, bringing depth and storytelling to every glass. The countryside is alive with mixed hedgerows, oak trees and mulberry bushes, where roe deer, pheasants and songbirds make frequent appearances, adding a natural richness to the experience. With a modest elevation gain and clearly marked paths, the trail is genuinely family-friendly and welcoming to dogs. Autumn is the season to visit above all others, when the vineyards glow with deep reds and golds and the scent of fermenting must hangs in the crisp air, though spring offers its own quiet magic with fresh greenery and crystal-clear views of the snow-capped Alps on the horizon.
