Hiking trail
Walking among the erratic boulders of Canavese means stepping into a story written by ice, stone, and time itself. This captivating 7.2-kilometre loop winds through the gentle hills of the Canavese area, bringing hikers face to face with enormous rock formations abandoned by ancient glaciers thousands of years ago, when Piedmont wore a completely different face, shaped by primordial forces beyond human imagination. Each boulder stands as a silent messenger, carried for miles within the grip of ice and then left behind, solitary and monumental, like a punctuation mark dropped into the green countryside. The trail is welcoming to everyone, rated CAI Tourist grade with a modest 202-metre elevation gain and an estimated walking time of around two and a half hours — just enough to move at a thoughtful pace, observe, and let wonder take hold. This is more than a hike; it is an open-air geology lesson that turns every footstep into a small discovery. Canavese, often overlooked in favour of the high Alpine routes, reveals here one of its most genuine and unexpected souls.
