Hiking trail
The final stretch of the Sentiero Azzurro offers one of the most moving experiences in Piedmontese trekking. After crossing the wild heart of the Val Grande National Park — one of the most untouched natural areas in all of Europe — the trail gently guides walkers toward the jewel of Lake Mergozzo. Rated as a standard hiking route and suitable for families, the path winds through chestnut and beech forests where roe deer may appear at dusk and the black woodpecker can be heard echoing through the canopy. The landscape gradually softens as you approach the village, creating a striking contrast with the raw wilderness left behind. The crystal-clear waters of Lake Mergozzo, among the cleanest in Italy, reveal themselves suddenly like a well-earned visual and emotional reward. Spring brings lush blooms and cool breezes, summer fills the air with pine resin and invites a refreshing swim, while autumn drapes the hillsides in golden hues that turn every step into a painting. Dogs are welcome, making this an adventure to share with the whole family. A trail that stays with you long after you've returned home.
