The Gelindo Bordin Trail is a heartfelt tribute to one of Italy's greatest Olympic champions, winding through the breathtaking landscapes that surround Sestriere at nearly two thousand metres above sea level. This peaceful loop leads walkers across open alpine meadows, breezy ridgelines and larch forests that turn a warm, glowing gold in autumn. The views stretch uninterrupted across the peaks of the Cottian and Graian Alps, wrapped in a silence broken only by the song of alpine chaffinches and the curious whistle of marmots dotting the grassy slopes. In spring the meadows burst with gentians, anemones and buttercups, while summer brings cool, crisp air that makes every step a genuine pleasure. Rated E by the Italian Alpine Club, the trail poses no technical challenges and is perfectly suited for families with children, mixed groups and four-legged companions on a lead. The best time to visit runs from May through October, when the landscape shifts through an ever-changing palette of colours, offering a new story with every season.
